Director of Philanthropy - Hospice Halifax (Filled)

Director of Philanthropy
Hospice Halifax

Hospice Halifax was founded in 2001 with the mission of being a community of compassion and care dedicated to providing the best end of life possible for patients and their families. Starting as a grassroots initiative and the first hospice in Nova Scotia, it has grown to become a thought leader of hospice care in the region. Each year, Hospice Halifax welcomes approximately 150 patients facing end-of-life in its 10-bed residence. All programs and services are free of charge and available to all Nova Scotians. Hospice Halifax ensures patients and families get the care they need so they can be present and spend meaningful time together. Hospice Halifax celebrates patient’s lives, embraces their legacy, and honours their death with respect and compassion. As part of Hospice Halifax, you will be part of a team that is making a significant impact on the lives of the patients and loved ones they serve daily.

We are seeking a Director of Philanthropy who will help shape the future trajectory of Hospice Halifax. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for designing and executing an ambitious, multi-year fundraising strategy, developing, and executing innovative revenue-generation activities, and you will play a crucial role in mentoring a growing and dedicated team. Both in the office and in the community, you are an inspirational role model with a passion for the mission of Hospice Halifax.

The ideal skillset to succeed:

You are a seasoned and strategic fundraising professional, having led successful, multi-faceted fundraising programs, gaining the trust and support of donors at all levels. You have a track record of closing 6-to-7-figure gifts. An inspiring leader, you are known for guiding and mentoring the staff around you to achieve their full potential. Skilled in fostering collaboration and loyalty, you build highly productive teams that set new standards in philanthropy. You are experienced in stakeholder relations, having successfully managed your own portfolio of donors and led the charge in surpassing annual and multi-year revenue goals. You bring the capacity to strengthen relationships, deepen support, tell beautiful stories, and positively impact lives for Hospice Halifax.

What you bring to the table:

You are a natural relationship builder with high emotional intelligence and authenticity. You care deeply about the organization's mission. You are skilled at inspiring and influencing people, both internally and externally. With an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, you are unafraid to take calculated risks and think outside the box. You are unflappable and self-assured. Your vision and drive will shape the strategic plan and lead the team toward the organization's goals. You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and understand how to speak with tact and sensitivity; skills that will captivate audiences and rally support.

The Culture:

Hospice Halifax is a compassionate and collaborative team of passionate professionals. Join the extraordinary team and make a real impact in the lives of the Hospice Halifax community. They offer a competitive salary, work benefits, a great work environment, and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization that's revolutionizing the world of philanthropy. Hospice Halifax is home to programs such as free grief and bereavement services, music therapy and a nav-care program. You would participate in great events throughout the year such as Hike for Hospice, The Grand Split, Light Up a Life and Feeling The Love.
