Vice President of Philanthropy - Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation
Vice President of Philanthropy
Embedded in the hospital since 1975, the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation has been a driving force in connecting community to hospital, contributing over $50M in new equipment, facilities and programs to the Dartmouth General, a 24-hour emergency, inpatient medical, surgical and critical care facility providing services to approximately 120,000 people in Dartmouth and surrounding areas.
Today the hospital is undergoing an incredibly exciting transformation in how it delivers care as an important institution in Nova Scotia Health’s vision of the future and the Foundation is more committed than ever in its work to champion expansion efforts. While currently undertaking its newest campaign, Lead On - focused on driving patient-centered innovation in healthcare equipment, the Foundation is also focused on building leadership capacity to support its continued success and momentum with the creation of the role of Vice President of Philanthropy.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President of Philanthropy is a passionate fundraiser and skilled relationship builder, savvy in aligning interests and delivering meaningful outcomes. The Vice President is responsible for the development and implementation of thoughtful donor strategies to successfully engage principal gift donors to help realize the Foundation’s mission in supporting innovation and exceptional care by connecting those who believe in the Dartmouth General and the communities it serves. Engaging with donors aligned to support the societal impact priorities of the hospital will be a key priority for this leader. They will play a lead role in advancing capital campaigns, driving strategic fundraising activities, expanding donor networks locally and afar, stewarding deep relationships and increasing support from individual and corporate contributors.
The Vice President is a collaborative leader who thrives on working closely with others to realize ambitious, impactful goals. As a trusted colleague, partner and supporter to the CEO, the Board, staff, campaign leadership and volunteers, they successfully lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of principal gifts, making strong connections with donors, diverse stakeholders and the population served by the Dartmouth General. Working closely with the CEO and Board, the Vice President is also a key part of the President and CEO succession planning process.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree coupled with at least ten years of senior-level experience and demonstrated success delivering on philanthropic goals including the stewardship of principal gifts from individual and corporate donors.
