The company has been working toward meeting renewable energy targets set by the provincial government. In the last decade, the utility tripled renewable energy from 9% to 30% and reduced coal consumption by 33%. The Senior Solicitor will be a key team player in helping Nova Scotia Power reach its goal of achieving 80% renewable electricity sales by 2030.
We are seeking a Senior Solicitor to join the Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI) team. Reporting to the Director of Legal & Regulatory, ECEI, you will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and reviewing contracts and legal agreements while respecting all aspects of project execution matters, including significant construction arrangements, supply of goods and services, partnerships, joint ventures, and project funding arrangements.
This role oversees programs and regulatory systems, soliciting governmental and community partners where strong technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills will be key. You will meet with all levels of the Nova Scotia Power Board and the Corporate Leadership and Executive Leadership teams. Some travel will be required to reach community partners. You will be accountable for environmental performance related to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
