Building a Thriving, Prosperous Halifax.

The Halifax Partnership, the city’s economic development organization, is an influential and ambitious network of over 120 private and post-secondary partners and all three levels of government who are accelerating business growth, attracting new investment, strengthening the community and helping people succeed. Together they market Halifax to the world, help businesses reach their full potential, and track and report on Halifax’s economic progress.

The Partnership has a catalytic role to grow the population to 550,000 and GDP to $30 billion by 2031. To achieve these goals, the Partnership and its partners are implementing Halifax’s Economic Growth Plan 2016-21, supported by four five-year strategic goals with a focused and measurable plan of action to make Halifax a vibrant, thriving and inclusive city. The plan builds upon and leverages Halifax’s unique strengths – its ocean advantage, its educated and innovative research and start-up community, and its superb urban/rural lifestyle.

The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has a rare opportunity to build on the region’s current momentum and profoundly impact the future, by taking the next big step in realizing the potential of the city’s economic growth.

Additionally, this position is responsible for the day to day management of the organization, including a team of 40 staff, and is accountable for operations, administration, marketing, human resources and finance functions.

The successful candidate is a 21st century leader who thrives in a diverse, digital and entrepreneurial world and who fosters relationships with partners and staff that are collegial, collaborative and action-oriented. Naturally curious, the President and CEO fosters co-creation and is both strategic and disciplined about implementation, delivering on commitments and achieving results. The CEO is comfortable in a high-profile role and has a track record of galvanizing the business community and diverse stakeholders to achieve a shared purpose.
