Atlantic Poultry Incorporated (API) is a significant supplier of high-quality feed, chicks, fresh eggs, and poults to Atlantic Canada’s poultry industry. Formed in 2012, API is a private company and is proudly owned and operated by Atlantic Canadian farmers. An integrated agricultural producer, marketer, and distributor, API has operations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Headquartered in Port Williams, Nova Scotia, API is an hour from Halifax and an international airport. API employs approximately 170 people directly through its hatcheries, farms, grading station, and feed division. The company is recruiting a Human Resources Manager to support operations and work closely with managers and supervisors. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resources Manager will be proactive and energetic on all aspects of the attraction and recruitment of front-line employees, supervisors, and management. They will have a natural ability to foster strong employee relations, create a culture of safety and learning, and will take initiative with staying up to date on HR best practice and regulations. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for implementing relevant HR practices and policies, particularly in the areas of occupational health and safety, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
The Human Resources Manager will lead the department, with one direct report, and together they will actively promote employee communication and internal accountability, while also building external relationships with community, workforce and economic development organizations. The Human Resources Manager will have experience facilitating temporary foreign worker opportunities. They are a self-starter, proven relationship builder, and creative thinker who works collaboratively within the organization and the broader community.
The ideal candidate will have five plus years of HR generalist experience, which includes handling talent acquisition, occupational health and safety, employee relations, EDI initiatives, policy development, training and development, and benefits administration. Manufacturing/agriculture experience and a CPHR designation will be considered assets but are not required.
