Executive Director, HCi3 - EfficiencyOne

Executive Director,
Halifax Climate Investment, Innovation & Impact (HCi3) Fund
HCi3 is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in late 2020 and established as a wholly owned subsidiary of EfficiencyOne, a national leader in the design and delivery of energy efficiency programs and services. HCi3’s purpose is investing in a net-zero Halifax for everyone. Together with partners, our mission is to accelerate and enable the uptake of measurable, equitable, and meaningful climate solutions by financing scalable projects. HCi3 is a member of Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3) - a network of seven local centres across Canada, partnered with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). With a shared mandate, the LC3 Network is working together toward a net-zero future in a way that advances equity, resilience, and community well-being.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board of Directors of HCi3 and the Executive Leadership Team of EfficiencyOne, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of HCi3 while also connecting local climate action to opportunities for global impact. As the ED, you will lead the development, execution, evaluation and reporting of HCi3 programs. With a focus on financing low-carbon projects and scaling them through innovative impact investing, you have a demonstrated passion for climate action and the drive to lead the transition to a low carbon economy.
We are seeking a goal-oriented and ambitious individual who builds strong and trusted relationships and embodies values of integrity, innovation, and partnership. As the ED, you bring a minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience in non-profit and/or business operations with a focus on climate change, sustainable energy, and/or impact investing, as well as experience reporting to a board of directors. You have exceptional financial and investment acumen, as well as strong administrative, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Your ability to think strategically and anticipate future risks, emerging trends, and best practices will be instrumental in advancing climate action and driving the success of HCi3. By embracing a transparent, responsible, equitable, curious, and collaborative work style, you will contribute to building momentum and removing barriers to create a sustainable future for the communities we serve.
