Greystone Energy Systems is seeking a Director of Engineering, a strategic builder, mentor, and technical leader, to guide the company’s multi-disciplinary engineering team, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products across multiple locations. Role Overview
The Director of Engineering will lead the Mechanical, Software, Hardware, and Testing teams, overseeing the entire product development lifecycle from concept to delivery. This leader will scale and elevate engineering execution, build and mentor high-performing teams, implement systems and best practices, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure alignment with Product Management, Manufacturing, and business objectives. The focus of this role is on building organizational capability, operational excellence, and talent growth to enable sustained innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Strategy & Leadership: Define and communicate the engineering vision; develop long-term strategies to support product innovation and organizational growth.
- Team Development & Mentorship: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering team; implement scalable processes, training, and professional development programs.
- Product Development & Execution: Lead end-to-end product development initiatives, ensuring design excellence, manufacturability, and adherence to project timelines.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure technical solutions meet business and customer requirements.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Introduce best practices, optimize engineering processes, and explore emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- External Representation: Represent Greystone’s engineering and technical capabilities in trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and partner engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent experience; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- 10–15+ years of multi-disciplinary engineering leadership experience, including R&D and manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to manage Mechanical, Software, Hardware, and Testing teams effectively.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, new product introduction processes, and design content management.
- Technical expertise in HVAC, electronics, embedded systems, IoT, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of PCB design, firmware, and electro-mechanical systems is an asset.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a track record of mentoring engineers and fostering innovation.
