WCB Nova Scotia works with workplaces across the province to help prevent workplace injuries, establish strong return-to-work programs, and inform and inspire Nova Scotians to promote healthy and safe workplaces. They also provide caring, compassionate support in the wake of workplace tragedy.

WCB Nova Scotia’s Board of Directors is recruiting a visionary leader to serve as the organization's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Leading the organization into the future, the CEO has an exciting opportunity to build, enhance and expand on a solid foundation to help deliver quality services to the workers and employers of Nova Scotia.
Reporting to the Board through the Chair, the CEO is responsible for the organization’s strategic long-term leadership, KPI monitoring and day-to-day management. A visible leader, they will establish a province-wide presence, cultivating collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners. In addition, the CEO will proactively seek to understand issues and opportunities to generate trust and transparency to facilitate change.
Deeply aligned with the organization’s mission and values, the CEO will champion WCB Nova Scotia’s commitment to becoming a national leader in promoting workplace safety and delivering vital return-to-work programs and outcomes. They will inspire and foster an inclusive culture of innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring new ideas and creative approaches are considered and applied across projects, leveraging technology and data to enhance programs and services.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished strategic executive and authentic people leader with at least 10 years of experience leading change in medium to large, complex organizations. Experience or a deep understanding of employee benefits, or insurance, is an asset. The CEO is a highly skilled communicator and influencer who can effectively engage and build relationships with diverse groups. They are well-versed in policy, governance, and possess solid financial acumen. The preferred candidate is savvy in their ability to navigate public sector relationships, paired with a pragmatic, entrepreneurial spirit to encourage innovation and experimentation. The CEO has demonstrated experience and values the central role that technology can play in transforming business outcomes.
