Chief Executive Officer - Construction Safety Nova Scotia (Filled)

Twenty-five years ago, leaders in Nova Scotia’s construction industry banded together to create Construction Safety Nova Scotia, a not-for-profit association with a commitment to achieving a positive occupational health and safety culture through the provision of quality, accessible and affordable services.

The CEO has a unique opportunity to influence and steer the association to positively impact safety culture for years to come as demographics and technology disrupt the industry creating new opportunities and challenges in the way in which safety programs and services are developed and delivered.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO of Construction Safety Nova Scotia is accountable for the association’s strategic direction and operational performance. Working closely with the Board of Directors, they are responsible for developing, guiding and delivering on the strategic plan in support of the association’s mission to make Nova Scotia’s construction industry the safest in Canada. Collaborating closely with staff, the Board and diverse industry members, the CEO plays an important role in ensuring the continual evolution, development, management and promotion of safety programs and services that are of superior quality, delivery and relevance to members. As an ambassador of the association, the CEO enjoys making meaningful connections with members, government and industry stakeholders consistent with the priorities of the association and with a focus on building momentum and ensuring achievement of performance targets as set by the Board. The CEO provides positive and collaborative leadership, inspiring and supporting a team of 25 staff while overseeing the day to day operational and financial management of the association.

The successful candidate has a post-secondary degree combined with at least eight years of experience in a related leadership capacity. Experience within a services organization and/or not for profit is an asset, as is construction sector/OHS experience/knowledge. The CEO is strategic and disciplined, delivering on commitments and achieving results. They are known for their inspirational and supportive leadership approach, building strong teams and motivating others to achieve a shared vision. They bring direct experience effectively supporting Boards to their role and they are an exceptional communicator, relationship builder and organization ambassador.
