As the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Regional Hospital provides world-class care and is home to several specialized departments, including cancer, palliative, neonatal, pediatrics, emergency, renal dialysis and mental health and addictions. The Hospital is in the midst of a transformative journey in how it delivers care and serves the needs of patients, families and communities. Through the Cape Breton Health Care Redevelopment project, the Hospital is revitalizing and expanding its services, including a new emergency department, cancer centre and critical care department. The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is an essential partner in achieving the community’s vision for the future and is part of an exciting era of growth and transformation.
Since its inception in 1991, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation has been an inspiring force in connecting with the community and strengthening healthcare in the region. Through the generous financial support of the community, friends and partners, the Foundation has raised more than $50 million dollars to support healthcare priorities. As part of the redevelopment project, the Foundation has recently committed to a multi-year, multi-million dollar campaign to support the building of a new Cape Breton Cancer Centre. The new state-of-the-art centre will more than double in size and allow for a comprehensive approach to cancer care and treatment for Cape Bretoners.
Today, the Foundation is recruiting a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the Foundation embarks on its largest capital campaign to date, the new CEO will provide leadership and guidance as the Foundation elevates its commitment to connecting donors near and far in support of strengthening healthcare for Cape Bretoners. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Foundation, guides and inspires a talented team and proactively engages and collaborates with internal and external partners and stakeholders to align on fundraising priorities, ensure donor impact and delivery on financial results. The CEO is accountable for overseeing the capital campaign, including setting priorities, developing the case for support, recruiting and supporting volunteer leaders as well as cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donor prospects.
The successful candidate has a university degree in a relevant discipline. They are an inspiring and committed leader with progressive fundraising leadership experience, ideally spent leading an organization of comparable scope and size. The CEO has an excellent track record for developing and delivering on strategic fundraising plans, including capital campaigns, major gifts and developing and leading high-performing teams to generate strong performance results. Experience in healthcare fund development is considered an asset. The CEO is highly relationship focused, adept at cultivating and effectively managing multi-stakeholder relationships in alignment to the mission and goals of the Foundation. They have an understanding of good governance practices. Knowledge and understanding of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the Foundation is considered an asset. A superior communicator and influencer, the new CEO has the ability to foster an environment of positivity and inspiration for people to give to health care in Cape Breton.
